part i.
Character name: Jim Kirk
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot universe)
Species: Human.
Character powers: No exceptional powers.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
Yes. Jim would be reasonably susceptible.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
Yes. Jim's mind is very focused, analytical, ordered, and organized, which is at war, at times, with the parts of his mind that are quick to action, hedonistic, and thrill-seeking.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Yes.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
Yes. Emotionally Jim leads with his heart and intuition, dosed heavily with his analytical mind. He's very compassionate, pragmatic, warm, open, kind of trolly.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
It’s all right, for those with the capability, to pick up that Jim sometimes feels doubts about how well he commands people, that he worries that his genuine talent for the job is undercut by his youth and lack of hands-on experience. He worries about living up his father's legend and legacy. He denies himself a lot of love because he's afraid of loss and he doesn't want to lead anyone on--he's really married to his job these days. He misses his mother and brother, desperately wishes he'd known his father and wonders how he would've turned out differently had his dad been around. And his deepest secrets, should another character be powerful enough to get at them, are that he worries his dad might find him a let-down, and he's desperately in love with his best friend but is so terrified of losing McCoy's friendship that he's deliberately hiding those feelings and any outward sign of them that he's aware of, and that he survived a massacre on the Tarsus IV colony, where he was pitted against his similarly-aged friends for survival, when he was fourteen.
Major memories with deep emotions attached that another character might pick up on are his time on Tarsus IV, meeting Bones for the first time when he enlisted in Starfleet, the Kobayashi Maru test, the destruction of Vulcan, assuming command of the Enterprise for the first time, and being officially commissioned Captain.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
25 years old, 6’1”, blue eyes, brownish-blond hair, athletic build. He’s fit and strong, youthful, and full of confidence (some might call it swagger). He carries himself with the air of someone who has learned to wear authority and responsibility (but who still might engage in the odd bar brawl if it comes to it, look, a dude’s gotta do what a dude’s gotta do). He has an expressive face and an easy smile.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
No.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
No.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
I'm fine with most things. If it's your general brawling-with-others type injuries we can just move forward; for serious maimings, things that would require long recovery periods, death, or vampire feedings let's talk first so I can figure out how to handle it.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
Yes. Just give me a quick run-down of what they did while impersonating Jim so I'm prepared for any IC consquences.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
Jim is a garden-variety human. If your character would be able to sense the aura of a normal human that's what they'd sense when he was around. To everyone else he’s just a person.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Yes.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
Yes.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Jim is easily tempted by pride, lust, indulgence, and anger. He's a hedonist, a thrillseeker, and a passionate person who's been denying himself a lot of things for a while in the quest to prove himself worthy of being a good captain and a good officer.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Yes.
part v.
1.) Is canon-puncturing or fourth-walling acceptable? We encourage people to tread extremely lightly with allowing their character to learn they are fictional.
No.
2. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
I'm okay with threadjacking in open network posts. If you want to join a log give me and any other players involved a heads-up and we'll work it out.
3. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
Yes.
4. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
I don't have anything that's an absolute, don't-ever-bring-that-up trigger. If something does start to make me uncomfortable I will speak up; likewise, I will completely respect others' triggers and I want you to speak up if you're not comfortable.
I can probably deal if it's legitimately IC for your character to say certain things or behave certain ways and it's handled well.
